HOW TO CREATE THE PERFECT COOKING STATION
I am a firm believer that creating the perfect cooking station elevates your cooking experience and makes it enjoyable and efficient. Below are three tips that can help you achieve that practical yet aesthetic look in your kitchen.
Prioritise Beauty & Function
As much as a well-thought-out cooking station should be about convenience, it should also be a place that inspires you and allows you to romanticise the cooking process. Start with a large butcher’s block as it will be the biggest item on your countertop and act as an anchor — just be sure to place a rag underneath to prevent slipping whilst chopping. Add a few garlic bulbs to a spoon rest or a little bowl and a potted herb for a simple yet inviting touch.
Keep Essentials Within Reach
Store frequently used tools like knives, wooden spoons and oils close to your prep area. I keep mine in a wine right by my stove. If you can split it over both sides of your stove, that would work perfectly, so everything isn’t clumped together. Though I am still searching for the perfect set of knives, I do have a few in mind, which I will link below.
Add Personal Touches
Display items like your favourite cookbooks, fresh flowers, a small frame, or cute little knick-knacks, but most importantly, some sort of lighting. We currently have wall lights from Pooky; they have a wonderful selection, and they also have some table lamps, which I have been eyeing up.
